IIA Volunteer Nominations

Seeking IIA Volunteer Leadership Candidates for 2019–20

With more than 190,000 members in over 170 countries, The IIA provides dynamic leadership for the global profession of internal auditing. Volunteers play a key role and the contributions they make impact the day-to-day functions of internal auditors, as well as shape the future of the internal audit profession. 

The IIA is seeking nominations for qualified members to serve in the following volunteer leadership roles:

  • Global Board of Directors
  • NA Board of Directors (U.S., Canada, Caribbean only)
  • Internal Audit Foundation Board of Trustees
  • Canadian Board (Canada only)
  • 17 Committees comprising 250 members
  • District Advisors and District Representatives (U.S., Canada, Caribbean only)

Due to IIA Bylaw changes effective July 10, 2019 that significantly alter the size and structure of the Global Board of Directors, nominations for a position on the Global Board will be separate from all other committees/boards.

Nomination Timeline

Nominations for 2019‒20 must be submitted by Oct. 12, 2018. If you are elected or appointed to serve, your term will begin in April or July 2019. Below is a timeline of when selections are completed and candidates are notified:

Dec. 2018: NA Board & District Representatives/Advisors
Jan. 2019: Global Board of Directors and Internal Audit Foundation Board of Trustees
Feb. 2019: Committee Chairmen are appointed
Mar. 2019: Committee members (all candidates are contacted whether selected or not)

  • Step 1: Join your local chapter or affiliate today!
  • Serve on the board

  • Plan activities for International Internal Audit Awareness Month
  • Attend local events to share your best practices and solutions
  • Support the development and execution of programs, events, and local training

Globally

  • Serve on an IIA global committee
  • Become a global board member
  • Contribute or write for one of The IIA’s publications
  • Serve as an IIA conference session presenter
  • Become an IIA seminar instructor
  • Serve as a quality assessment team member
  • Provide translations for IIA materials
  • Volunteer as a subject matter expert
  • Contribute to guidance
