Internal Audit Practitioner – New Program
The IIA is committed to providing a clearly defined, professionally relevant, and up-to-date suite of global certifications to support internal auditors as they progress through their careers.
To better meet the professional development needs of students and new or rotational internal auditors, we have created a new Internal Audit Practitioner program and exam. Launching on November 2, 2020, the Internal Audit Practitioner designation will help those who hold it demonstrate commitment and build credibility within their current or future organizations.
Candidates whose applications for the Internal Audit Practitioner program were received on or before November 1, 2020 may continue on the current pathway but will also have the option to transfer to the new program once it has launched.
Candidates Who Wish to Continue on the Current Pathway
If you would like to continue in the current Internal Audit Practitioner program, you must successfully complete the CIA Part 1 exam by December 31, 2021 when the program expires. Upon successfully passing the exam, your Internal Audit Practitioner designation will be active for two years from the date the designation is awarded.
If you earn the Internal Audit Practitioner designation and wish to enter the Certified Internal Auditor® (CIA®) program, you must apply to the CIA program within two years from the date the Internal Audit Practitioner designation is awarded in order for your CIA Part 1 exam results to be applied to the CIA program.
Candidates Who Wish to Transfer to the New Internal Audit Practitioner Program
If you would like to transfer to the new Internal Audit Practitioner program, you must open a case in your CCMS profile to request the program transfer. The application fee for the new Internal Audit Practitioner program will be waived. A designation awarded under the new program will be valid for three years.
*Details for the new Internal Audit Practitioner program will be announced on 2 November 2020. Please check back at that time.
