Environmental, Health and Safety Certifications

Important Changes Coming to CPEA and CPSA 

As The Institute of Internal Auditors (IIA) centers its focus on core internal auditing, we are pleased to announce that Board for Global EHS (environmental, health and safety) Credentialing (BGC) will be taking over the Certified Professional Environmental Auditor® (CPEA®) and Certified Process Safety Auditor® (CPSA®) certifications.

Certified Professional Environmental Auditor

​The Certified Professional Environmental Auditor (CPEA) credential demonstrates one’s understanding of today’s ever changing environmental, health and safety regulations. The CPEA designation is fully accredited by the Council of Engineering and Scientific Specialty Boards (CESB). CPEAs qualify for Professional Membership status with the American Society of Safety Engineers (ASSE).

Certified Process Safety Auditor

The Certified Process Safety Auditor (CPSA) credential demonstrates one’s understanding of important Process Safety elements and regulations for all industries with processes that involve explosive materials and hazardous waste.

The Board of Environmental Auditor Certifications

The Board of Environmental Auditor Certifications® (BEAC®) is a member of the Council of Engineering and Scientific Specialty Boards (CESB). CESB has granted full accreditation to BEAC’s Certified Professional Environmental Auditor (CPEA®) certification. BEAC has signed a Letter of Agreement with the American Society of Safety Engineers (ASSE), and CPEAs qualify for ASSE Professional Member Status. BEAC has also signed a letter of agreement with the American Industrial Hygiene Association (AIHA), whereby AIHA recognizes and endorses BEAC’s CPEA certification. In addition, BEAC and the Auditing Association of Canada (AAC) have signed a Declaration of Cooperation to provide mutual recognition of certification and training programs.

BEAC certification qualifies for the U.S. Department of Energy’s greenhouse gas emission reporting requirements.
