The Internal Audit Foundation

Your Foundation of the Future

Michael FucilliDear Reader,

I am pleased to assume the role as president of the Internal Audit Foundation, which exists to help audit leaders, practitioners, students, and academics experience continuous growth in their careers, and to propel them to become trusted advisors and thought leaders within their organizations as well as the internal audit industry itself.

Having enjoyed a long, storied career in internal auditing, and relying on resources from the Foundation to guide my journey, I can attest to the benefits I have received from the Foundation in my past, and can assure you that the Foundation is focused on providing a foundation for the future as well.

Early in my career as a staff auditor, I got hooked on the linchpin of the profession, Sawyer’s Guide for Internal Auditors. Since then, I have sought additional support from the Foundation and The IIA, including standards and guidance publications and study materials to help me achieve my IIA certifications, which ultimately led to my becoming a chief audit executive. Simply put, I don’t know where I would be if I hadn’t discovered this exciting, ever-changing career path and the Foundation that helped me navigate its many channels.

The Foundation is here to help you discover the same professional success I’ve achieved and to reach even greater heights in internal auditing. To do that, the Foundation needs me, you, and every one of us because it is a not-for-profit organization that is supported solely by donations. We rely on contributions alone to produce the wealth of forward-looking, profession-defining, exploration-oriented educational resources that make us better at what we do.

Hockey great Wayne Gretzky said, “I skate to where the puck is going to be, not to where it has been.” That’s what the Internal Audit Foundation does by supporting research, student resources, and global surveys that help us see the future of the profession, and where we need to go.

And you can help. Individually, as an organization, as an IIA chapter, or even as a Leadership Society Member, to help us further our mission and demonstrate your commitment to the profession.

I invite you to join me. Discover today what the Foundation has to offer you, and help us continue pushing the internal audit profession into the future.

Sincerely,
