Accounting Today & NACD Recognize IIA CEO Richard Chambers

Richard ChambersIIA Global President and CEO Richard Chambers recently was named to two prominent Top 100 lists.

Last week, the National Association of Corporate Directors (NACD) recognized him as one of the year’s most influential corporate governance leaders by naming him to its NACD Directorship 100. Today, he was also tapped as one of Accounting Today’s Top 100 Most Influential People in Accounting.

NACD’s annual listing recognizes leading corporate directors and governance advocates in several categories, including academics, attorneys, audit and risk professionals, board advisors, compensation experts, crisis communications experts, governance advisors, investors, media, members of the plaintiffs’ bar, policy advisors, recruiters, and regulators and rulemakers. Among those recognized are Nasdaq OMX President and CEO Robert Greifeld, NYSE Euronext CEO Duncan Niederauer, Public Company Accounting Oversight Board Chairman James Doty, and Information Systems Audit and Control Association CEO Susan Caldwell.

Accounting Today’s listing, which appears annually in the publication’s September issue, recognizes “thought leaders and visionaries who are shaping the accounting profession.” This is the second consecutive year that Chambers has been named to Accounting Today’s Top 100 list. Among those recognized are American Institute of Certified Public Accountants (AICPA) President and CEO Barry Melancon, U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC) Chair Mary Jo White, and Financial Executives International (FEI) President and CEO Marie Hollein.

“It’s an honor to be recognized among the likes of these professionals and institutions such as the SEC, Center for Audit Quality, New York Stock Exchange Euronext, Nasdaq OMX, AICPA, and FEI,” said Chambers. “I am proud to accept these recognitions on behalf of The IIA, our extraordinary volunteers, and the dedicated staff who do great work in advocacy, standards, certifications, education, research, and professional services.”
