IIA CEO Meets With Supreme Audit Institutions and China National Audit Office

Richard Chambers, president and CEO of The Institute of Internal Auditors, travelled to Beijing, China, to participate in the 21st International Congress of Supreme Audit Institutions (INCOSAI), presented by the International Organisation of Supreme Audit Institutions (INTOSAI) and hosted by the China National Audit Office (CNOA). The triennial conference, held Oct. 22-25, brings together like-minded organizations and INTOSAI members such as comptroller generals, auditor generals, and heads of courts of audit from a variety of nations.

“The week has presented some remarkable opportunities for networking on behalf of the internal audit profession and The IIA with countless officials from INTOSAI and the China National Audit Office,” said Chambers. “I also personally met with the heads of 25 Supreme Audit Institutions, which provide the highest level of government auditing within a country.”

INTOSAI is a worldwide affiliation of governmental entities. The event afforded Chambers the opportunity to meet with officials from: Aruba, Austria, Brasil, Canada, Great Britain, Kenya, Liberia, Macedonia, Madagascar, Maldives, Mexico, Moldavia, Monaco, Montenegro, Palestine, Romania, Saudi Arabia, The Sudan, Thailand, Timor-Leste, Tonga, Uganda, the United States, and Zimbabwe.

“I have to say that the China National Audit Office has done a spectacular job in organizing the conference as well as the accompanying networking and social events,” Chambers added.

Before returning to his home, Chambers will deliver a presentation at a conference organized by IIA China, and attend a dinner hosted jointly by IIA China and the CNOA. He will also have an opportunity to address the INCOSAI delegates about The IIA’s mission and vision for public sector auditing around the world.
