IIA Delivers Practice Guidance to Answer Growing Need for Integrated Audit Approaches
Today, audits reach beyond the financial arena to include areas such as safety, security, information systems performance, and environmental concerns. Within the nonprofit and government sector, there is an increasing need for performance audits to examine success in satisfying mission objectives. As a result, there are now audit professionals who specialize in security audits, information systems audits, and environmental audits.
Integrating these niche knowledge bases into a single audit could produce a more effective outcome if a holistic approach is employed. However, to accomplish this, decisions on risk evaluation require a heightened awareness by auditors to broaden their perspectives and think outside the box. The purpose of the Integrated Auditing Practice Guide is to increase the internal auditor’s awareness of integrated auditing and provide guidance on how to approach one.
