IIA Recognizes Best Writing on Internal Auditing
Thurston Award presented on opening day of The IIA’s International Conference
SYDNEY (July 27, 2017) — The Institute of Internal Auditors (IIA) earlier this week commended a group of authors for their exceptional writing on the internal audit profession at the 2017 International Conference.
Y.S. Al Chen, Loïc Decaux and Scott Showalter were presented the John B. Thurston Award for Literary Excellence for their article, “Mapping Assurance,” which appeared in the December 2016 issue of Internal Auditor magazine, a publication of The IIA. The article explored how internal auditors can facilitate efforts to document an organization’s combined assurance activities.
The Thurston Award honors the author or authors of the top article published in Internal Auditor magazine during the previous year. The award was established in 1952 in memory of John B. Thurston, who was a pioneer of the internal audit profession. It was Thurston who conceived the idea of establishing The IIA and served as its first president.
First published in 1944, Internal Auditor magazine brings IIA members the latest news about best practices and important trends and issues in the profession. It is available in print and online at iaonline.theiia.org.
