IIA Recognizes Top Scores on CIA Exams
4 from among 46,416 globally who took exam in 2016
SYDNEY (July 27, 2017) — The Institute of Internal Auditors (IIA) earlier this week announced the top scorers on the prestigious Certified Internal Auditor (CIA) certification exam.
The organization honored Sarah Gray, CIA, Chartered Professional Accountant, with the William S. Smith Gold Award for earning the highest overall score. She is a manager in Audit Services at Manulife Financial in Toronto, Ontario.
The IIA also honored Tianye Zhang, CIA, with the Dr. Glenn Sumners Student Award, which recognizes students with the highest score on the CIA exam. She is a graduate of Washington University in St. Louis, Mo., with a masters of accounting degree.
Also recognized for their outstanding performance on the CIA examination were Justin Mahé, who received the A.J. Hans Spoel Silver Award for earning the second-highest overall score, and Maggie Lau, who received the Kurt Riedener Bronze Award for the third-highest overall score.
Mahé, CIA, CPA, works as a senior financial analyst in Internal Control for Citizens Property Insurance Corp. Lau, CIA, CPA, is a senior consultant in Risk Consulting at KPMG.
Awards are based on individual performance on the core CIA exam parts. In 2016, a total of 46,416 candidates took the CIA exam, and 2,294 took a specialty exam.
