Thomas Luccock Receives Honorary Alumnus Award

Thomas Luccock, CIA, CPA, was recognized at the annual Michigan State University Alumni Grand Awards Gala on Oct. 19. The sole recipient of the Honorary Alumnus Award, Luccock shared the spotlight with other MSU Spartans – Magic Johnson among them – receiving Distinguished Alumni, Alumni Service, Young Alumni, and Philanthropists of the Year awards.

The Honorary Alumnus Award is presented to those who have demonstrated outstanding continuous volunteer service to the university on a local, state, national or international level. Not surprising then that Luccock has also volunteered on numerous IIA committees through the years, and was one of eight judges for Internal Auditor magazine’s yearly Emerging Leaders recognition, which was showcased in the October 2017 issue. He has served on the IIA Publications Advisory Committee since 2010.

Luccock, now retired, was hired by the university in 2000 to serve as director of internal audit and senior advisor to the president. The awards committee noted that Luccock “has continued to demonstrate leadership through volunteerism, mentoring, philanthropy and general support for higher education at MSU.”
