Three-part CIA® and CRMA® Exam Registration Now Open
Wait no more. Registration is now open for the English versions of the new three-part Certified Internal Auditor® (CIA) exam and the inaugural offering of the Certification in Risk Management Assurance™ (CRMA) exam. Testing for both exams will begin July 1.
Certified Internal Auditor Program
Findings from The IIA’s 2011 Job Analysis Study for the CIA program led to the development of a new three-part exam syllabus that realigns existing content, reclassifies the knowledge levels at which certain items are tested, and includes new content areas for assessment.
New and existing CIA candidates should access the Certification Candidate Management System (CCMS) to apply for the program or to register for an exam part.
Certification in Risk Management Assurance
The CRMA designation, introduced in August 2011, has been conferred to more than 9,500 individuals worldwide who applied for and met the requirements of professional experience recognition (PER) during the North American and global offering periods, which ended December 31, 2012 and March 13, 2013, respectively.
Although the CRMA exam is primarily for internal auditors who wish to hone their risk management assurance and consulting skills, it requires an in-depth understanding of the broad spectrum of effective risk management. Risk managers, management, and board members also may benefit from earning the CRMA.
The CRMA initial offering of the core exam will require candidates to correctly answer 125 questions covering four domains of knowledge within a two-and-a-half-hour testing period. Additionally, candidates must successfully pass Part 1 of the CIA exam, which tests their knowledge of the basic concepts of risk and controls, as well as The IIA’s International Professional Practices Framework. The CRMA is The IIA’s first specialty exam to include Part 1 of the CIA as an exam component.
Individuals who register by June 30 and complete the CRMA core exam by August 31 may be eligible for the special introductory pricing rate of US $150 for IIA members (US $250 for non-members) and waved application fee.
