Your Career Compass
Mapping Your Career
As we settle into 2016, our feature story, “Fueling Your Success by Mapping Your Career,” provides a GPS system of sorts to aid you in making critical professional development decisions this year and beyond.
Highlighting the recently released Global Internal Audit Common Body of Knowledge (CBOK) Study report, the article summarizes the results of more than 10,000 self-assessments by internal audit professionals as to how their skills measure up to The IIA’s Global Competency Framework. It provides insights into what practitioners believe they are doing well and what they could be doing better. Additionally, it discusses what these results mean for the profession and how individuals and teams alike can leverage the information to enhance professional development. It also allows readers to complete their own self-assessment, providing a 360-degree view of the profession in general and the reader’s own current reality.
This issue also takes readers back in time as The IIA celebrates its 75th anniversary, reflecting on significant milestones, highlighting how chapters can join the celebration, and looking forward to what’s next on the horizon. Beyond highlighting anniversary activities, the issue includes the latest developments at The IIA such as the new self-study program, an enhanced Audit Career Center, and three new areas of The IIA website to help build your personal roadmap.
For specific support in developing any of the competencies discussed in the feature story, you can reference the comprehensive list of books, research reports, seminars, conferences, eLearning opportunities, and other training platforms organized by topic that are included in every issue of Your Career Compass.
