2014 All Star Conference – A Record-breaking Event

All Star Conference 2014 General SessionA record-breaking attendance of over 600 delegates helped celebrate The IIA’s 10th annual All Star Conference. All Star features The IIA’s highest rated presenters from the past 12 months of conferences, as ranked by attendees, and provides cutting-edge insights on issues impacting the internal audit environment and beyond. This year’s conference looked outside processes and controls to explore the essential role internal audit can play within the organization.

Conference delegates were the first to hear about The IIA’s newest member benefit, IIA Career Map, a free online tool that allows members to create a focused career action plan. IIA President and CEO Richard Chambers announced the new benefit during opening comments and encouraged attendees to evaluate their proficiency in specific skills essential to further growth and opportunity for advancement in their internal audit careers.

Larry Harrington speaking at the 2014 All Star ConferenceBefittingly, Larry Harrington, CIA, QIAL, CRMA, vice president of internal audit at Raytheon Company, then presented his general session, The Future of the Internal Audit Profession, during which he highlighted need for internal auditors to adapt to evolving business environments that are IT-rich, multinational, and fast-paced.

  • Richard F. Chambers, CIA, QIAL, CGAP, CCSA, CRMA, President and CEO, The IIA
  • Carman L. Lapointe, CIA, CCSA, Under-Secretary-General, Internal Oversight Services, United Nations
  • Adil Buhariwalla, Vice President, Internal Audit, Emirates Group

Thirty-two concurrent sessions, focused on a relevant scope of topics from Auditors as Leaders to The Psychology of Fraud and Auditing IT Governance, spanned the balance of the two-and-a-half days of the conference.
