2017 Women in Internal Audit Leadership Forum
The 2017 Fall Women in Internal Audit Leadership Forum: Strategies for Success was a great success. The forum focused on what it takes to become a successful leader as a woman in internal auditing, and offered multiple opportunities for face-to-face interaction and strategy discussions with established women leaders in the profession.
Over 80 attendees enjoyed a dynamic lineup of top internal audit executives who gathered on Sept. 20 in Washington, DC, at the Renaissance Downtown. Each presenter had a passion for developing and sharing strategies for women in the profession to gain and maintain success in leadership roles.
The forum kicked off with Michele Hooper, president and CEO of The Director’s Council’s keynote presentation, Effective Communication Between Internal Audit and the Audit Committee, and ended with the topic of Negotiating Successfully Through Understanding and Recognizing Personality Differences delivered by Jan Hargrave, CEO, Jan Hargrave and Associates. These two insightful presentations opened and closed a full day of networking and energizing conversations.
Additional highlights included Establishing a Voice of Influence and Presence, led by Jacquelyn Wieland, CEO & Founder of Solutions Provided LLC, along with a roundtable discussion on topics including:
- Creating Action Plans
- Communication Tools
And a panel discussion, Talent Acquisition and Retention Strategies, moderated by Julie Scammahorn, chief auditor of Citibank, N.A., was also followed by a roundtable discussion on:
- Interview Techniques for Identifying the Right Candidate for the Job
- Managing the Generational Divide
Delegates left the event with up to 7.5 CPE credits and sound strategies for success.
We are currently planning our 2018 calendar and will be offering two Women in Internal Audit Leadership Forums: one in the spring and one in the fall. Please watch for details so you can mark your calendars!
