If audit reports aren’t clear and don’t deliver actionable suggestions, what good are they? A well written report with insightful observations helps the audit client work to achieve business objectives and is easily understood by senior leaders and the audit committee. Listen as we discuss the skills needed (critical thinking, the 5 C’s) to create a strong report with a built-in communication plan during an audit engagement so there are no surprises. These tips conform and align with The IIA’s Standards, the IIA Competency Framework, and are useful for both traditional and Agile audits.

Learning Objectives

  • Understand how critical thinking and the 5 C’s from the IIA Competency Framework assist in building actionable observations and laser-focused audit reports.
  • Identify the importance of ensuring reporting considers “What’s in it For Me?”
  • Learn how to write observations, memos, and reports that conform and align with IIA Standards.
  • Find out about other IIA training opportunities and publications on writing observations, memos, and reports.
